SABHA 2011

Hani Alqam's site-specific installation, that took place at Jabal Nasr's Stonemine, Prince Hassan Camp, on 19 February 2011, brings the community together by evoking the past. Taking place at the remains of the old stone mine, Alqam re-associates himself to his neighborhood by re-creating a memory of a shepherdess, Hajjeh Sabha, tending to her sheep on the location of the stone mine. In the work, Alqam and Hajjeh Sabha invite the public to reminisce under a fig tree in collaboration with local children.
